All we know about NASA, is that they are experts in Rocket Science but there something much more. Some of the NASA scientists from NASA Ames Research Center in Moffet Field, California has turned the entertainment tool iPhone into a Chemical Sensor. It will be able to detect chlorine, ammonia, methane and other gases in the air. With the use of a postage stamp size sensor attached to the dock connector, this little device can collect data on the gases in the air, develop them and forward.
The prototype uses silicon sensing chip in micro-board with 64 nanosensors. This device can examine the composition of the air and can be sent information and data to a computer or to another phone via Wi-Fi and cellular network.
It is a project in which researchers were tryig to find better ways to detect chemical threats via mobile phone. In this way, the GPS module can provide information about the discovery of a cloud of hazardous gases.
